UNFCCC Official Side Event: Building Resilience of Communities from Highlands to Oceans in the Face of Climate Crisis

This UNFCCC COP 26 official side event highlighted findings from recent science, civic diplomacy, technology and community interventions and provides an opportunity for stakeholders across the Hindu-Kush Himalayan river basins to come together on a common platform for building resilience against CC induced water risks.

Resilience Hub at COP 26: Building Resilience of Communities from Highlands to Oceans in the Face of Climate Crisis

Hosted at the COP 26 Resilience Hub (https://cop-resilience-hub.org), this Transboundary Water In-Cooperation Network event brought together speakers from three watersheds: Indus, Amazon and Jordan rivers tackling cross-border challenges of sustainability and impacts from the climate crisis. Topics included Highlands-to-Oceans (H2O): Anticipatory Governance of Hydroclimatic Regime Shifts in the Transboundary River Basins; Advocating the Mountain Agenda for Sustainable Human Future; Water Supply and Demand and the Climate Crisis in the Jordan River Basin

China Corporate Pavilion at Cop 26: Securing Clean Water in Transboundary Indus, Jordan, Mekong and Amazon basins through Science and Environmental Diplomacy

This is a 3-hour moderated panel discussion, with two keynote talks from in-person participants and an online international panel of scientists, civil society, and private sector representatives from the focal Indus, Mekong, Jordan and Amazon river basins.

United Nations Water Conference holding from March 22 – 24, 2023 in New York

ACCARD (African Centre for Climate Actions and Rural Development Initiative) in collaboration with the Nigeria’s Bayelsa State Government, the Institute for Environmental Diplomacy and Security at the University of Vermont, the Center for Capacity Building at the University of Colorado, among others, hosted an event titled “Integrative Highland to Ocean (H2O) Action for Disappearing Deltas: Towards a UN Convention on Conserving River Deltas”.
